Benefits and Privileges
Being accorded the status of Bumiputera in Brunei (as in Malaysia) carries with it certain benefits and opportunities which other ethnic groups in the country may not have access to. There are a number of affirmative action items targeting the Bumiputeras in Brunei. Under special legislation they have extended land rights and are given special privileges for employment opportunities in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Famous quotes containing the words benefits and/or privileges:
“It is too late in the century for women who have received the benefits of co-education in schools and colleges, and who bear their full share in the worlds work, not to care who make the laws, who expound and who administer them.”
—J. Ellen Foster (18401910)
“Take two kids in competition for their parents love and attention. Add to that the envy that one child feels for the accomplishments of the other; the resentment that each child feels for the privileges of the other; the personal frustrations that they dont dare let out on anyone else but a brother or sister, and its not hard to understand why in families across the land, the sibling relationship contains enough emotional dynamite to set off rounds of daily explosions.”
—Adele Faber (20th century)
