Bror Hjorth - Training

Training

In 1915, Hjorth spent a month studying under Caleb Althin and a month studying under G. Hallström. He took a break from his studies from 1915 to 1919 due to illness, before enrolling at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen for a year and a half, followed by four years studying sculpture in Paris under Antoine Bourdelle.

Famous quotes containing the word training:

Dancing is a wonderful training for girls, it’s the first way you learn to guess what a man is going to do before he does it.
    Christopher Morley (1890–1957)

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man’s training begins, its probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

The want of education and moral training is the only real barrier that exists between the different classes of men. Nature, reason, and Christianity recognize no other. Pride may say Nay; but Pride was always a liar, and a great hater of the truth.
    Susanna Moodie (1803–1885)
