Brahma Sutras - Author

Author

The Brahma Sutras are attributed to Badarayana. While the earlier commentators like Adi Shankara treat Bādarāyaņa, the author of the Brahma Sūtra, as the Jnana-Shakti Avatara (knowledge-power incarnation) of God, Vaishnavite tradition identifies him with Krishna Dwipayana Vyāsa, the author of the Mahābhārata.

Famous quotes containing the word author:

What I like in a good author isn’t what he says, but what he whispers.
    Logan Pearsall Smith (1865–1946)

My friend devotes himself to his life, whenever he can find the spare time. His motto is: ‘Don’t just sit there: live!’ So he’s too busy to stand, to walk, to do anything, except to live. He even refused to kiss a girl, when invited, on the grounds that it was time again to be living. Schedules are sacred to him.
Marvin Cohen, U.S. author and humorist. The Self-Devoted Friend, New Directions (1967)
