Vehicle Modification
Modifications typically associated with the stereotype include:
- Powerful sound systems
- Extravagant paint jobs
- Large, loud exhaust tips
- alloy wheels, often unusually large for the respective car, with matching low-section, wide-base tyres
- Spoilers and bonnet scoops (possibly non-functional)
- Suspension modifications to lower a car's ride height
- Body kits, neon lights and other appearance modifications
- Tinted windows restricting the view from the car
Performance upgrades such as engine tuning adding turbochargers are rare amongst the boy racer subculture due to the high costs involved and the fact that most insurance companies charge extremely high premiums to young drivers with modified cars.

Famous quotes containing the word vehicle:
“The woman may serve as a vehicle for the rapist expressing his rage against a world that gives him painbecause he is poor, or oppressed, or mad, or simply human. Then what of her? We have waded in the swamp of compassion for him long enough.”
—Robin Morgan (b. 1941)
