Authorship
The author of Revelation identifies himself several times as "John." The author also states that he was on Patmos when he received his first vision:
-
- I John...was in the isle that is called Patmos for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. ...and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet saying: What thou seest, write in a book...
As a result, the author of Revelation is sometimes referred to as John of Patmos.

Famous quotes containing the word authorship:
“The Bible is good enough for me, just the old book under which I was brought up. I do not want notes or criticisms, or explanations about authorship or origins, or even cross- references. I do not need, or understand them, and they confuse me.”
—Grover Cleveland (18371908)
