Museum Railway

In summer regular museum train services are operated by the Ruhr Valley Railway (Ruhrtalbahn) along the banks of the river Ruhr to Hagen using a variety of locomotives, including a steam engine. A Prussian P 8 (38 2267) owned by the museum is usually used for the steam services. In addition, from 2009 there will be regular trips to the Zollverein coal mine (Zeche Zollverein) via Mülheim and Essen.

Part of the museum train to Hagen includes a restored passenger coach by MAN from 1921 belonging to the Essen Model Railway Club (Modell-Eisenbahn-Club Essen & Umgebung e.V.) founded in 1949.

Famous quotes containing the words museum and/or railway:

A rat eats, then leaves its droppings.
Hawaiian saying no. 85, ‘lelo No’Eau, collected, translated, and annotated by Mary Kawena Pukui, Bishop Museum Press, Hawaii (1983)

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)
