Bob Godfrey

Roland Frederick Godfrey MBE (born 27 May 1921) is a British animator whose career spans more than fifty years. He is probably best known for the children's cartoon series Roobarb (1974), Noah and Nelly in... SkylArk (1977) and Henry's Cat (1980) and for the Trio chocolate biscuit advertisements shown in the UK during the early 1980s. However, he has also produced a BAFTA and Academy award-winning short film Great (1975), a tongue-in-cheek biography of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He was previously nominated for a Academy Award for his film Kama Sutra Rides Again (1971) which was screened with the UK release of Stanley Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange. Further Academy Awards nominations were received for Dream Doll (1980), with Zlatko Grgic, and Small Talk (1994).

Famous quotes containing the words bob and/or godfrey:

It was because of me. Rumors reached Inman that I had made a deal with Bob Dole whereby Dole would fill a paper sack full of doggie poo, set it on fire, put it on Inman’s porch, ring the doorbell, and then we would hide in the bushes and giggle when Inman came to stamp out the fire. I am not proud of this. But this is what we do in journalism.
Roger Simon, U.S. syndicated columnist. Quoted in Newsweek, p. 15 (January 31, 1990)

The I’m-going-to-win-no-matter-how-I-have-to-do-it attitude just doesn’t seem to fit. For me, a contest isn’t a success unless it was fun, whether or not I win.
    —Margo Godfrey Oberg (b. c. 1955)
