Black P. Stones - Media

Media

  • The FBI investigation into Jeff Fort and his El Rukns gang for terrorism was featured in an episode of the The FBI Files entitled "Terror For Sale", such as the gangs' purchase of a LAW Rocket (actually a dummy rocket) from an undercover agent posing as a arms dealer.

While El Rukns may not have "street" presence any longer, their presence is still alive and just as power in the African American communities on the South Side of Chicago. Now a more nonviolent activist organization, as a whole, the BPSN still is a forceful voice within the community. It is also important to note that drug trafficking is still a prominent portion of the organization's revenue.

Famous quotes containing the word media:

The media no longer ask those who know something ... to share that knowledge with the public. Instead they ask those who know nothing to represent the ignorance of the public and, in so doing, to legitimate it.
    Serge Daney (1944–1992)

One can describe a landscape in many different words and sentences, but one would not normally cut up a picture of a landscape and rearrange it in different patterns in order to describe it in different ways. Because a photograph is not composed of discrete units strung out in a linear row of meaningful pieces, we do not understand it by looking at one element after another in a set sequence. The photograph is understood in one act of seeing; it is perceived in a gestalt.
Joshua Meyrowitz, U.S. educator, media critic. “The Blurring of Public and Private Behaviors,” No Sense of Place: The Impact of Electronic Media on Social Behavior, Oxford University Press (1985)

The media have just buried the last yuppie, a pathetic creature who had not heard the news that the great pendulum of public conciousness has just swung from Greed to Compassion and from Tex-Mex to meatballs.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
