Biscayne Bay Campus

The Biscayne Bay Campus is a campus of Florida International University located in North Miami, Florida. It is 40 minutes away (via Panther Express, the student bus system) from the Modesto Madique campus. It is the largest regional campus in the state of Florida and is the home to degrees such as hospitality management, marine biology, and extensive courses in arts and sciences, especially English and creative writing. In Fall 2007, a new marine biology building as well as an expanded student union, student recreation center, and a food court opened. There are plans to build a green design building to house the School for Environment and Society, an interdisciplinary degree program joining the curriculum of sciences and humanities.

The campus is located on the former site of the proposed Inter-American Exposition, or Interama. It is surrounded by the largest urban park in Florida, Oleta River State Park, and is adjacent to the site of the Munisport Landfill, a brownfield site.

Famous quotes containing the word bay:

The seagull’s wings shall dip and pivot him,
Shedding white rings of tumult, building high
Over the chained bay waters Liberty—
Then, with inviolate curve, forsake our eyes
    Hart Crane (1899–1932)
