The Birla family is a family in India. The fore-father of the Birla family is Shiv Narain Birla, a member of the Marwari Maheshwari community from Pilani, Jhunjhunu, in the westerly state of Rajasthan. He moved to Bombay around 1857 to establish a trading house. His son, Baldeodas Birla moved to Calcutta in 1861 to set up his own business and continued the family.
Famous quotes containing the word family:
“Productive collaborations between family and school, therefore, will demand that parents and teachers recognize the critical importance of each others participation in the life of the child. This mutuality of knowledge, understanding, and empathy comes not only with a recognition of the child as the central purpose for the collaboration but also with a recognition of the need to maintain roles and relationships with children that are comprehensive, dynamic, and differentiated.”
—Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)
