Big City Life

"Big City Life" is a single from Mattafix's debut album, Signs of a Struggle, released in 2005. The chorus is sung in Jamaican Creole.

The single topped the charts in Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and New Zealand. The song also peaked at number 2 on the European Singles Chart.

Although the band is British, the song was much more successful internationally than in their home country. However, the song did peak at number 15 in the United Kingdom.

On 1 September 2006 "Big City Life" was the winner of the 43rd Sopot International Song Festival in Poland. The song also appeared as an EA Trax song on the video game 2006 FIFA World Cup, and in the UK compilation, Now That's What I Call Music! 62 (UK series) in 2005.

Famous quotes containing the words big, city and/or life:

    Politics at all times lead to bloody wars, and not only politics, but also religions as well as social and economic systems of all times are spattered with blood. Invariably the big ones devoured the little ones, and the little ones the tiny ones.
    Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921–1990)

    When the city gate catches fire, it’s the fish in the moat who suffer.
    Chinese proverb.

    I have almost forgot the taste of fears.
    The time has been, my senses would have cooled
    To hear a night-shriek, and my fell of hair
    Would at a dismal treatise rouse and stir
    As life were in’t. I have supped full with horrors;
    Direness, familiar to my slaughterous thoughts,
    Cannot once start me.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
