As of 2001 India census, Bhavani had a population of 58,645. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Bhavani has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 66%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
But while considering with the Urban Agglomeration, along with Komarapalayam, which is on the eastern banks of Cauvery, the population is 1,05,986.
