Famous quotes containing the words benjamin, nathaniel and/or smith:

Living substance conquers the frenzy of destruction only in the ecstasy of procreation.
    —Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

There is the grand truth about Nathaniel Hawthorne. He says NO! in thunder; but the Devil himself cannot make him say yes.
