Bebop Harmonic Minor Scale
The bebop harmonic minor scale is derived from the harmonic minor scale and has a chromatic passing tone (an additional â™7) between the 6th and the 7th notes. It can be used on all three chords of a minor II-V-I progression. This scale is listed in Randy Halberstad's book Metaphors For The Musician—Perspectives from a Jazz Pianist. The Bebop Harmonic Minor scale is a mode of the Bebop Major scale; and is also known as the Bebop Natural Minor scale (as listed in Mark Levine's The Drop 2 Book).

Famous quotes containing the words harmonic, minor and/or scale:
“For decades child development experts have erroneously directed parents to sing with one voice, a unison chorus of values, politics, disciplinary and loving styles. But duets have greater harmonic possibilities and are more interesting to listen to, so long as cacophony or dissonance remains at acceptable levels.”
—Kyle D. Pruett (20th century)
“If, for instance, they have heard something from the postman, they attribute it to a semi-official statement; if they have fallen into conversation with a stranger at a bar, they can conscientiously describe him as a source that has hitherto proved unimpeachable. It is only when the journalist is reporting a whim of his own, and one to which he attaches minor importance, that he defines it as the opinion of well-informed circles.”
—Evelyn Waugh (19031966)
“I dont pity any man who does hard work worth doing. I admire him. I pity the creature who does not work, at whichever end of the social scale he may regard himself as being.”
—Theodore Roosevelt (18581919)
