Critical Response

In 1966, the CBC called Beautiful Losers "one of the most radical and extraordinary works of fiction ever published in Canada," and quoted a critic from the Boston Globe who positively compared the work with the fiction of James Joyce. Famous quotes containing the words critical and/or response:

An audience is never wrong. An individual member of it may be an imbecile, but a thousand imbeciles together in the dark—that is critical genius.
    Billy Wilder (b. 1906)

There are situations in life to which the only satisfactory response is a physically violent one. If you don’t make that response, you continually relive the unresolved situation over and over in your life.
    Russell Hoban (b. 1925)
