BBC Radio 3 - News Broadcasts

News Broadcasts

BBC Radio 3's remit focuses mainly on music and the arts and news is therefore a minor part of its output. However the station still provides short news bulletins through the Breakfast programme, at 1pm and in the early evening on weekdays to give listeners the chance to switch to another station, for example BBC Radio 4 or BBC Radio 5 Live, should a news item interest or affect them in any way. Following the Delivering Quality First proposals, it was suggested that Radio 3 share bulletins with Radio 4, so that the same bulletins would be prepared and announced on both channels.

The newsreading team includes Catriona Young, Vaughan Savidge, Jill Anderson, Ian Skelly, David McNeil, Alison Rooper, John Shea, Paul Guinery and Susan Rae.

Famous quotes containing the words news and/or broadcasts:

    Word of gloom from the war, one day;
    Johnston pressed at the front, they say.
    Little Giffen was up and away;
    A tear—his first—as he bade good-by,
    Dimmed the glint of his steel-blue eye.
    “I’ll write, if spared!” There was news of the fight;
    But none of Giffen.—He did not write.
    Francis Orrery Ticknor (1822–1874)

    Alexander Woollcott broadcasts the story of the wife who returned a dog to the Seeing Eye with this note attached: “I am sending the dog back. My husband used to depend on me. Now he is independent, and I never know where he is.”
