Barra da Lagoa is a small fishing village in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. It is situated at the mouth of a tidewater channel flows either in or out of the Island's sizable lagoon (lagoa). This tidewater channel is at the end of a long sweeping beach called praia de Moçambique that is a popular destination. There are several points of interest:
- There is a pedestrian-only bridge across the tidewater channel. It was completely renovated and strengthened in 2007. On the far side of the bridge there are many houses.
- There is a tiny beach around the corner from the mouth of the tidewater channel.
- There are many paderias, bakeries which bake fresh pastries on a daily basis, and two fruit and vegetable stands for economical.
Barra da Lagoa is also one of the safest places to learn to surf in Brazil. There are no big rocks, sharks or deep holes and the water is usually below chest deep. Jacqueline Silva, a current World Surfing Champion lives in Barra da Lagoa.
