Bang Records - Forming The Company

Forming The Company

Berns had been staff producer at Atlantic Records for several years when the Atlantic chief executives and Berns set out to create a new independent label. Soon thereafter, Berns took sole control of the company. At Bang, Berns had an immediate string of hit records, including "I Want Candy" by The Strangeloves, "Hang on Sloopy" by The McCoys, "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, and "Solitary Man" and Kentucky Woman by Neil Diamond.

Famous quotes containing the words forming and/or company:

Piety is the fermentation of the forming mind and the putrefaction of the disintegrating one.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

I shall never send for a priest or recite an Act of Contrition in my last moments. I do not mind if I lose my soul for all eternity. If the kind of God exists Who would damn me for not working out a deal with Him, then that is unfortunate. I should not care to spend eternity in the company of such a person.
    Mary McCarthy (1912–1989)
