The Body
The body is deeper in front than behind, and prolonged downward anteriorly so as to overlap the upper and front part of the third vertebra.
It presents in front a median longitudinal ridge, separating two lateral depressions for the attachment of the Longus colli muscles.
Its under surface is concave from before backward and convex from side to side.

Famous quotes containing the word body:
“Her mane falls wild on her forehead,
And the light breeze moves me to caress her long ear
That is delicate as the skin over a girls wrist.
Suddenly I realize
That if I stepped out of my body I would break
Into blossom.”
—James Wright (19271980)
“The body dies; the bodys beauty lives.
So evenings die, in their green going,
A wave, interminably flowing.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
