The Body
The body is deeper in front than behind, and prolonged downward anteriorly so as to overlap the upper and front part of the third vertebra.
It presents in front a median longitudinal ridge, separating two lateral depressions for the attachment of the Longus colli muscles.
Its under surface is concave from before backward and convex from side to side.

Famous quotes containing the word body:
“Theres a point of poverty at which the spirit isnt with the body all the time. It finds the body really too unbearable. So its almost as if you were talking to the soul itself. And a souls not properly responsible.”
—Louis-Ferdinand Céline (18941961)
“I found my brothers body at the bottom there, where they had thrown it away on the rocks, by the river. Like an old, dirty rag nobody wants. He was dead. And I felt I had killed him. I turned back to give myself up.... Because if a mans life can be lived so long and come out this way, like rubbish, then something was horrible, and had to be ended one way or another. And I decided to help.”
—Abraham Polonsky (b. 1910)
