Australian Railroad Group

Australian Railroad Group (ARG) was one of Australia's largest private rail operators, operating across almost 10,000 kilometres of track and began operating in Western Australia on 17 December 2000 following its purchase of the Westrail freight business. It was acquired by QR National (now Aurizon)). The main commodities hauled by ARG included grain, mineral sands, alumina, bauxite, coal, woodchips, quartz, nickel and iron ore around Western Australia.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, railroad and/or group:

The Australian mind, I can state with authority, is easily boggled.
    Charles Osborne (b. 1927)

... no other railroad station in the world manages so mysteriously to cloak with compassion the anguish of departure and the dubious ecstasies of return and arrival. Any waiting room in the world is filled with all this, and I have sat in many of them and accepted it, and I know from deliberate acquaintance that the whole human experience is more bearable at the Gare de Lyon in Paris than anywhere else.
    M.F.K. Fisher (1908–1992)

Jury—A group of twelve men who, having lied to the judge about their hearing, health, and business engagements, have failed to fool him.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
