Aurora (province)

Aurora (, (Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Aurora), is a province of the Philippines located in the eastern part of Central Luzon region, facing the Philippine Sea. Its capital is Baler and borders, clockwise from the south, the provinces of Quezon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Isabela.

Before 1979, Aurora was part of the province of Quezon. Aurora was, in fact, named after Ma. Aurora Aragon, the wife of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon, the president of the Philippine Commonwealth, after whom the mother province was named.

Famous quotes containing the word aurora:

    What’s this, Aurora Leigh,
You write so of the poets and not laugh?
Those virtuous liars, dreamers after dark,
Exaggerators of the sun and moon,
And soothsayers in a tea-cup? I write so
Of the only truth-tellers, now left to God,—
The only speakers of essential truth,
    Opposed to relative, comparative,
    And temporal truths;...
The only teachers who instruct mankind,
    From just a shadow on a charnel-wall.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)
