Facilities and Aircraft
Augusta State Airport covers an area of 350 acres (142 ha) at an elevation of 352 feet (107 m) above mean sea level. It has two asphalt paved runways: 17/35 is 5,001 by 150 feet (1,524 x 46 m) and 8/26 is 2,703 by 75 feet (824 x 23 m).
For the 12-month period ending August 2, 2008, the airport had 33,800 aircraft operations, an average of 92 per day: 75% general aviation, 16% air taxi, and 9% military. At that time there were 27 aircraft based at this airport: 89% single-engine and 11% multi-engine.
Runway 17/35 was reconstructed in the summer of 2012. The original surface was ground up and reclaimed, and runway lights and other navigational aids were upgraded. The project cost $7.5 million, and was funded by the Federal government. The project required closing the runway for two months, and it was reopened at 3:41 pm on June 29th.
The Airport received a Federal grant of $1 million to purchase new snow removal equipment. The equipment should enable the Airport to remain open during snowstorms.

Famous quotes containing the word facilities:
“I have always found that when men have exhausted their own resources, they fall back on the intentions of the Creator. But their platitudes have ceased to have any influence with those women who believe they have the same facilities for communication with the Divine mind as men have.”
—Elizabeth Cady Stanton (18151902)
