Other Text-based Visual Art

There are a variety of other types of art using text symbols from character sets other than ASCII and/or some form of color coding. Despite not being pure ASCII, these are still often referred to as "ASCII art". The character set portion designed specifically for drawing is known as the line drawing characters or pseudo-graphics.

Famous quotes containing the words visual and/or art:

    Unlike any other visual image, a photograph is not a rendering, an imitation or an interpretation of its subject, but actually a trace of it. No painting or drawing, however naturalist, belongs to its subject in the way that a photograph does.
    John Berger (b. 1926)

    To thee, fair Freedom! I retire
    From flattery, cards, and dice, and din:
    Nor art thou found in mansions higher
    Than the low cot, or humble inn.

    ‘Tis here with boundless pow’r I reign;
    And ev’ry health which I begin
    Converts dull port to bright champagne;
    Such Freedom crowns it, at an inn.
    William Shenstone (1714–1763)
