Arlington West

Arlington West refers to two closely related projects, both of which are intended to draw public attention to, and to open a discourse on the subject of both military and civilian deaths during the invasion and occupation of Iraq of the early 21st century. There is also the similar, but differently named Lafayette Hillside Memorial in Lafayette, in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.

Famous quotes containing the words arlington and/or west:

If after all that we have lived and thought,
    All comes to Nought,—
If there be nothing after Now,
    And we be nothing anyhow,
    And we know that,—why live?
    —Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869–1935)

Humanism, it seems, is almost impossible in America where material progress is part of the national romance whereas in Europe such progress is relished because it feels nice.
    —Paul West (b. 1930)
