Angakkuq

The angakkuq (Inuktitut: ᐊᖓᑦᑯᖅ, angakkuit; Inuvialuktun: angatkuq; Kalaallisut: angakok, angákut) is the intellectual and spiritual figure among the Inuit who corresponds to a shaman. Other Eskimo cultures traditionally had similar spiritual mediators, although shamanism among Eskimo peoples has many forms and variants.
