Continuation
Reg Smythe died on 13 June 1998, and the original strip has been continued. For some time, the writer and artist were uncredited, but in November 2004 the strip began to carry a credit for Roger Mahoney (artist) and Roger Kettle (writer). Currently, the credited creators are a trio named Mahoney (presumably the same Roger Mahoney), Goldsmith, and Garnett. The appearance of the characters has not changed perceptibly since Smythe's passing.
In May 2012, Andy Capp (as well as Flo, Chalkie White, the Vicar and Jackie the Barman) were animated for the first time in promotional material for The Trinity Mirror-owned MirrorBingo.com website. The animation was created by Teesside born Chris Hunneysett, who drew from his own background to place Andy Capp in Middlesbrough.

Famous quotes containing the word continuation:
“Institutional psychiatry is a continuation of the Inquisition. All that has really changed is the vocabulary and the social style. The vocabulary conforms to the intellectual expectations of our age: it is a pseudo-medical jargon that parodies the concepts of science. The social style conforms to the political expectations of our age: it is a pseudo-liberal social movement that parodies the ideals of freedom and rationality.”
—Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
“War is regarded as nothing but the continuation of state policy with other means.”
—Karl Von Clausewitz (17801831)
“After an argument, silence may mean acceptanceor the continuation of resistance by other means.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
