Death
In 1986, Khan had near-fatal accident on the Bombay-Goa road, when he drove his car into a tree while trying to avoid a boulder. The drugs administered to him caused a serious weight problem for the rest of his life. As a result of his increasing weight, he died in 1992 after suffering from heart failure at the age of 51. Several of the films he completed were released after his death, right until 1996. His funeral procession passed from his house in Pali Hill to the Muslim Burial in Bandra East. It was attended by all major movie stars at that time.

Famous quotes containing the word death:
“And yet the sun pardons our voices still,
And berries in the hedge
Through all the nights of rain have come to the full,
And death seems like long hills, a range
We ride each day towards, and never reach.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
“The things a man has to have are hope and confidence in himself against odds, and sometimes he needs somebody, his pal or his mother or his wife or God, to give him that confidence. Hes got to have some inner standards worth fighting for or there wont be any way to bring him into conflict. And he must be ready to choose death before dishonor without making too much song and dance about it. Thats all there is to it.”
—Clark Gable (19011960)
“No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main.... Any mans death diminishes me because I am involved in Mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
—John Donne (c. 15721631)
