Effect of Land Conveyances
ANCSA and related legislation produced changes in ownership of about 148,500,000 acres (601,000 km2) of land in Alaska once controlled by the federal government. That is larger by 6,000,000 acres (24,000 km2) than the combined areas of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.

Famous quotes containing the words effect of, effect and/or land:
“I guess what Ive really discovered is the humanizing effect of children in my lifestretching me, humbling me. Maybe my thighs arent as thin as they used to be. Maybe my getaways arent as glamorous. Still I like the woman that motherhood has helped me to become.”
—Susan Lapinski (20th century)
“No being exists or can exist which is not related to space in some way. God is everywhere, created minds are somewhere, and body is in the space that it occupies; and whatever is neither everywhere nor anywhere does not exist. And hence it follows that space is an effect arising from the first existence of being, because when any being is postulated, space is postulated.”
—Isaac Newton (16421727)
“That impersonal insensitive friendliness which takes the place of ceremony in that land of waifs and strays.”
—Evelyn Waugh (19031966)
