Adelina Patti - Voice

Voice

Adelina Patti had a warm, crystalline, and very agile high soprano voice. Her vocal emission was of perfect equality and her vocal range was wide, from low C to high F (C4 - F6). Regarding her technique, critic Rodolfo Celletti said, "Her voice was a technical marvel. The staccatos were marvels of accuracy, even in the trickiest intervals, her legato was impressively smooth and pure; she connects the voice from note to note, phrase to phrase, lifting and gliding with an exceptional virtuosity. Her chromatic scale was deliciously sweet, and her trill was wonderful and solid."

Famous quotes containing the word voice:

    There in the twilight cold and gray,
    Lifeless, but beautiful, he lay,
    And from the sky, serene and far,
    A voice fell, like a falling star,
    Excelsior!
    Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1809–1882)

    “Pray my dear,” quoth my mother, “have you not forgot to wind up the clock?”M”Good G—!” cried my father, making an exclamation, but taking care to moderate his voice at the same time,—”Did ever woman, since the creation of the world, interrupt a man with such a silly question?”
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

    Mind not the old man beseeching the young man;
    Let not the child’s voice be heard, nor the mother’s entreaties;
    Make even the trestles to shake the dead, where they lie awaiting
    the hearses,
    So strong you thump, O terrible drums—so loud you bugles blow.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
