Acetylide
Acetylide refers to dianions with formula C22−. Such anions result from the removal of one or two protons from acetylene C2H2. Acetylide also refers to the anion of the formula RC≡C−, where R is an organic substituent. Acetylides are useful reagents in organic chemistry. Some acetylides are notoriously explosive.
