Abrahamic Religions - God

God

All the Abrahamic religions are monotheistic. In both Judaism and Islam, God is viewed as a single divine being; this view is not shared by Christianity which views God as an indivisible Trinity. While the Christians hold that the Trinity is the same as the Judaic and Islamic singular divine being view of God, the distinction is sufficiently huge as to require an overt explanation on the part of the Christians and on the part of the Islamic faith which restates the issue with an admonition in chapter 112 of the Qur'an.

Famous quotes containing the word god:

Every man of ambition has to fight his century with its own weapons. What this century worships is wealth. The God of this century is wealth. To succeed one must have wealth. At all costs one must have wealth.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

Do not put the LORD your God to the test...
    Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 6:16.

Scripture cited by Jesus when tempted in the wilderness.

Men are the managers of the affairs of women
for that God has preferred in bounty
one of them over another, and for that
they have expended of their property.
    Righteous women are therefore obedient,
guarding the secret for God’s guarding.
And those you fear may be rebellious
admonish; banish them to their couches,
    and beat them.
    Qur’An. Women 4:38, ed. Arthur J. Arberry (1955)
