Famous quotes containing the words test, language and/or systems:
“Poetry is important. No less than science, it seeks a hold upon reality, and the closeness of its approach is the test of its success.”
—Babette Deutsch (18951982)
“Our language has wisely sensed these two sides of mans being alone. It has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word solitude to express the glory of being alone. Although, in daily life, we do not always distinguish these words, we should do so consistently and thus deepen our understanding of our human predicament.”
—Paul Tillich (18861965)
“Our little systems have their day;
They have their day and cease to be:
They are but broken lights of thee,
And thou, O Lord, art more than they.”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
