A-Division is the top division of the Bhutan Football Federation, although it's status as the premier football competition in 2012 is currently unclear. The competition held in 2012 was a Thimpu-based league, from which the top 3 teams qualified for a further competition termed the National League which also involves four other district level teams. In November 2012 the Bhutan Football Federation announced the start of the country's first ever national league. Kicking off in December 2012 it will feature six teams - three from the capital Thiumpu - and sponsored by Coca-Cola. The aim is to improve international standards.
