Outer and Inner North East Radio

Inner FM is the result of a change to an initially proposed plan for a number of sub-metropolitan community radio stations. The initial plan for the North-Eastern Melbourne area was for one radio station service area covering both the Heidelberg area and the Plenty Valley area.

The initial community radio group was formed as North Eastern Radio, with an office in the Plenty Valley area. Subsequent to their first trial broadcasts, a new group was established in the inner most area of the that original service area. The new group cited differences in community make-up and population age as the primary reasons for the formation of the new group.

The (then) Australian Broadcasting Authority later agreed to divide the original North East Melbourne service area into an Inner North Eastern region and an Outer North Eastern region. The original North Eastern Radio became "ONE FM" (Outer North East) (Now Plenty Valley FM) and "INR" (Now Inner FM) became the operator in the Inner North eastern portion of the original service area.

Famous quotes containing the words outer, north, east and/or radio:

Just like those other black holes from outer space, Hollywood is postmodern to this extent: it has no center, only a spreading dead zone of exhaustion, inertia, and brilliant decay.
    Arthur Kroker (b. 1945)

When the Somalians were merely another hungry third world people, we sent them guns. Now that they are falling down dead from starvation, we send them troops. Some may see in this a tidy metaphor for the entire relationship between north and south. But it would make a whole lot more sense nutritionally—as well as providing infinitely more vivid viewing—if the Somalians could be persuaded to eat the troops.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and turned the sea into dry land; and the waters were divided. The Israelites went into the sea on dry ground, the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left.
    Bible: Hebrew, Exodus 14:21,22.

A bibulation of sports writers, a yammer of radio announcers, a guilt of umpires, an indigence of writers.
    Walter Wellesley (Red)
