8th Infantry Division (India)

The 8th Indian Infantry Division is a division of the Indian Army which specialises in tactics and operations in mountainous territory.

Originally formed in Meerut on 25 October 1940 under Major-General C.O. Harvey as part of the Indian Army during World War II the Division was disbanded at the end of World War II but re-formed again in 1962 as a specialist mountain Division.
