7x7 is a city-living-focused fashion, lifestyle, food, culture, opinion and entertainment digital, print, mobile and events platform, covering the San Francisco Bay Area. The website, 7x7.com, also includes features on locations relevant to Bay Area residents and visitors, including the East Bay; the Bay Area wine regions including Napa and Sonoma counties; the Lake Tahoe region; notable attractions along Highway 1; and Los Angeles.
7x7 was founded in 2001 by then husband and wife Tom Hartle and Heather Hartle, who had just moved from Detroit. While the name (pronounced "seven-by-seven") originally represented the approximate forty-nine square miles making up the City and County of San Francisco, the name has evolved to refer to 7 things to love for 7 days a week. 7x7 and www.7x7.com are produced by McEvoy Media. McEvoy Media is owned by the McEvoy Group.
In 2004 McEvoy Media, then Hartle Media, acquired a majority interest in California Home + Design, and its website californiahomedesign.com. In 2006 it was involved in the purchase of Spin Magazine by the McEvoy Group; owners of Chronicle Books.
