The 7 post shaker is a piece of test equipment used to perform technical analysis on racecars. A 7 post shaker can apply all vertical forces acting on the car on the racetrack, emulating some of the effects of driving. The shaker has many controls for the hydraulic system and sensors to measure forces and their effects on the car. The forces include banking loads, lateral load transfer, longitudinal weight transfer and ride height sensitive downforce.
Famous quotes containing the words post and/or shaker:
“A demanding stranger arrived one morning in a small town and asked a boy on the sidewalk of the main street, Boy, wheres the post office?
I dont know.
Well, then, where might the drugstore be?
I dont know.
How about a good cheap hotel?
I dont know.
Say, boy, you dont know much, do you?
No, sir, I sure dont. But I aint lost.”
—William Harmon (b. 1938)
“Of the Shaker society, it was formerly a sort of proverb in the country, that they always sent the devil to market.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
