78431 Kemble (2002 QJ50) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on August 16, 2002 by A. Lowe on images taken at Palomar.
This asteroid was named in honour of the late Father Lucian Kemble who was a Franciscan friar and astronomer. His recorded main interest in astronomy was searching out deep sky objects and he was also known for his interest in asterisms such as Kemble's Cascade.
