Famous quotes containing the words post, world, war and/or duties:

My business is stanching blood and feeding fainting men; my post the open field between the bullet and the hospital. I sometimes discuss the application of a compress or a wisp of hay under a broken limb, but not the bearing and merits of a political movement. I make gruel—not speeches; I write letters home for wounded soldiers, not political addresses.
    Clara Barton (1821–1912)

What I hated even more than the conflict was the lurid spectacle of a world of unreason.
    Ellen Glasgow (1873–1945)

Of course in war all madnesses come out in a man, that is the fault of war not of a man or a nation.
    Frieda Lawrence (1879–1956)

If property had simply pleasures, we could stand it; but its duties make it unbearable. In the interest of the rich we must get rid of it.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
