6th G7 Summit - Leaders at The Summit

Leaders At The Summit

The G7 is an unofficial annual forum for the leaders of Canada, the European Commission, France, West Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Japanese Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira suffered a fatal heart attack on June 12, only days before the summit; and his colleague, the Foreign Minister, led the delegation which represented Japan in his place. Others joining Foreign Minister Okita in Venice were Finance Minister Noboru Takeshita and the head of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Famous quotes containing the words leaders and/or summit:

These semi-traitors [Union generals who were not hostile to slavery] must be watched.—Let us be careful who become army leaders in the reorganized army at the end of this Rebellion. The man who thinks that the perpetuity of slavery is essential to the existence of the Union, is unfit to be trusted. The deadliest enemy the Union has is slavery—in fact, its only enemy.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

What if it tempt you toward the flood, my lord,
Or to the dreadful summit of the cliff
That beetles o’er his base into the sea,
And there assume some other horrible form
Which might deprive your sovereignty of reason,
    And draw you into madness?
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
