Visiting Monarchs
There exist 44 monarch-headed countries in the present but only 29 monarchs in total because Elizabeth II is considered the constitutional monarch of 16 states of Commonwealth realms. Of all 29 monarchs, 25 accepted the invitation from the Royal Thai Government to join the celebrations in Thailand: 13 countries participated the celebrations by themselves, 12 sent their representatives. The two countries that could not join the celebrations were Nepal, owing to the internal political instability, and Saudi Arabia, owing to the royal health and its prevailing circumstances.

Famous quotes containing the words visiting and/or monarchs:
“For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you.”
—Bible: Hebrew Deuteronomy, 6:15.
The words are also found in Exodus 20:5, referring to the second commandment: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image ... for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
“There was about all the Romans a heroic tone peculiar to ancient life. Their virtues were great and noble, and these virtues made them great and noble. They possessed a natural majesty that was not put on and taken off at pleasure, as was that of certain eastern monarchs when they put on or took off their garments of Tyrian dye. It is hoped that this is not wholly lost from the world, although the sense of earthly vanity inculcated by Christianity may have swallowed it up in humility.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
