The 42nd Armoured Regiment is an armoured regiment of the Indian Army Armoured Corps that was raised in January 1981. Prior to the World War II, the regiment existed under different names. Its slogan is "karma shourya vijaya", which means work, valour, victory. It is commanded by an officer of the rank of Colonel. It has in its history some very bright and brave officers, reflecting the high regimental standards, who went on to do well later in their career and lives. The men are very passionate about their regiment and squadrons. The regiment has served in many different locations mostly across northern India like Ambala, Jalandhar, Lucknow, Babina, Barmer and Amritsar.
Famous quotes containing the word regiment:
“Simplicity of life, even the barest, is not a misery, but the very foundation of refinement; a sanded floor and whitewashed walls and the green trees, and flowery meads, and living waters outside; or a grimy palace amid the same with a regiment of housemaids always working to smear the dirt together so that it may be unnoticed; which, think you, is the most refined, the most fit for a gentleman of those two dwellings?”
—William Morris (18341896)
