Budget
In March 2009, summit manager GĂ©rald Cossette projected: "Organizing a G8 event is like moving from a beast to a ballet. Now it's a beast; but by the time the summit unfolds, it's going to be a ballet."
The Canadian government announced in February 2009 that it expected to invest $50 million in hosting the G-8 summit.
With the addition of a G20 summit in Toronto, the budget expanded. The total security cost was estimated at approximately C$1 billion, but more specific figures will not be known until the meetings have ended.
