Curriculum
Its core subjects are Chinese language, English language, Mathematics and Liberal studies, with three elective subjects. It is different from the old curriculum because students under this new academic structure only receive three years of senior secondary education and four years of university education. In order to move on to university education, students must get a pass on those four core subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE).

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:
“If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.”
—Neil Kurshan (20th century)
