• 1884–1901: 4th Admin Regiment, NSW Volunteer Infantry Northern Districts;
• 1901–1903: 4th Infantry Regiment;
• 1903–1908: 4th Australian Infantry Regiment;
• 1908–1912: 1st Battalion, 4th Australian Infantry Regiment;
• 1912–1914: 16th Infantry (Newcastle Battalion);
• 1914: 2nd Battalion (AIF) raised;
• 1915–1918: 15th Infantry;
