2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season - Storm Names

Storm Names

The names Fred and Ida were used for Atlantic storms for the first time in 2009. There were no names retired this year; thus, the same list will be used again in the 2015 season.

Famous quotes containing the words storm and/or names:

Those who want to row on the ocean of human knowledge do not get far, and the storm drives those out of their course who set sail.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

If goodness were only a theory, it were a pity it should be lost to the world. There are a number of things, the idea of which is a clear gain to the mind. Let people, for instance, rail at friendship, genius, freedom, as long as they will—the very names of these despised qualities are better than anything else that could be substituted for them, and embalm even the most envenomed satire against them.
    William Hazlitt (1778–1830)
