The 2006 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders football team represented Middle Tennessee State University in the 2006 college football season. Middle Tennessee entered the 2006 season coming off a losing 4-7 record (3-4 SBC) in 2005, which saw the dismissal of former head coach Andy McCollum. The team's new head coach was Rick Stockstill. Famous quotes containing the words middle, blue, raiders, football and/or team:
“Unpleasant questions are being raised about Mothers Day. Is this day necessary? . . . Isnt it bad public policy? . . . No politician with half his senses, which a majority of politicians have, is likely to vote for its abolition, however. As a class, mothers are tender and loving, but as a voting bloc they would not hesitate for an instant to pull the seat out from under any Congressman who suggests that Mother is not entitled to a box of chocolates each year in the middle of May.”
—Russell Baker (20th century)
“This side of the truth,
You may not see, my son,
King of your blue eyes
In the blinding country of youth,
That all is undone,
Under the unminding skies....”
—Dylan Thomas (19141953)
“This is our fate: eight hundred years disaster,
crazily tangled like the Book of Kells:
the dreams distortion and the lands division,
the midnight raiders and the prison cells.”
—John Hewitt (b. 1907)
“Idont enjoy getting knocked about on a football field for other peoples amusement. I enjoy it if Im being paid a lot for it.”
—David Storey (b. 1933)
“I doubt if men ever made a trade of heroism. In the days of Achilles, even, they delighted in big barns, and perchance in pressed hay, and he who possessed the most valuable team was the best fellow.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
