2006 Florida State Seminoles Football Team

The 2006 Florida State Seminoles football team represented Florida State University during the 2006 college football season. Florida State entered the 2006 season as the defending ACC Champion, coming off an 8–5 record (5–3 ACC) in 2005. The Seminoles were given a preseason ranking of #10 in the Coaches Poll and #11 in the AP Poll, but the team dropped completely out of the rankings by mid-season. The Seminoles finished with an overall record of 7–6, which was head coach Bobby Bowden's worst record since going 5–6 in 1976, his first year as Florida State's head coach. This record was later reduced to 2–6 after 5 wins from the season were vacated as punishment for violations of NCAA rules.

Famous quotes containing the words football team, florida, state, football and/or team:

...I’m not money hungry.... People who are rich want to be richer, but what’s the difference? You can’t take it with you. The toys get different, that’s all. The rich guys buy a football team, the poor guys buy a football. It’s all relative.
    Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)

    In Florida consider the flamingo,
Its color passion but its neck a question.
    Robert Penn Warren (1905–1989)

some strange comfort every state attend,
    And pride bestowed on all, a common friend;
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)

People stress the violence. That’s the smallest part of it. Football is brutal only from a distance. In the middle of it there’s a calm, a tranquility. The players accept pain. There’s a sense of order even at the end of a running play with bodies stewn everywhere. When the systems interlock, there’s a satisfaction to the game that can’t be duplicated. There’s a harmony.
    Don Delillo (b. 1926)

Romeo. I dreamt a dream tonight.
    Mercutio. And so did I.
    Romeo. Well, what was yours?
    Mercutio. That dreamers often lie.
Romeo. In bed asleep, while they do dream things true.
Mercutio. O then I see Queen Mab hath been with you.
She is the fairies’ midwife, and she comes
In shape no bigger than an agate stone
On the forefinger of an alderman,
Drawn with a team of little atomi
Over men’s noses as they lie asleep.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
