Falk Corporation

The Falk Corporation is a company that manufactures large industrial gears, couplings, chains, bearings and other industrial components and equipment. It is based in Menomonee River Valley, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is owned by Rexnord. The complex there is over 61 acres (250,000 m2), and has 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m2) of buildings. 600 people were inside the complex at the time of the explosion. The building that exploded was located in one corner of the complex. The building that housed the propane tanks was two separate structures joined together. One of the buildings was used as a warehouse for storing components used in the manufacturing process, and was called the Annex. The other building, called the 2-2 building, was a maintenance facility. The two buildings between them housed a total of six propane tanks, and covered 50,000 square feet (5,000 m2).

Famous quotes containing the words falk and/or corporation:

Americans are rather like bad Bulgarian wine: they don’t travel well.
    —Bernard Falk (1943–1990)

What I am anxious to do is to get the best bill possible with the least amount of friction.... I wish to avoid [splitting our party]. I shall do all in my power to retain the corporation tax as it is now and also force a reduction of the [tariff] schedules. It is only when all other efforts fail that I’ll resort to headlines and force the people into this fight.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
