2005 Rose Bowl - Game Summary

Game Summary

The scoring was even 14-14 at halftime. The second half began with quarterback Vince Young scoring on the Wolverines with a 60-yard touchdown run. Michigan held a 10-point lead in the third quarter. Both teams traded scores and it looked as Michigan would take this game with a late go ahead field goal in the fourth quarter. However, enough time remained for Texas to win. Driving 47 yards in 10 plays, Texas had one final chance. Dusty Mangum's 37-yard field goal wobbled through the uprights as time expired.

Famous quotes containing the words game and/or summary:

The indispensable ingredient of any game worth its salt is that the children themselves play it and, if not its sole authors, share in its creation. Watching TV’s ersatz battles is not the same thing at all. Children act out their emotions, they don’t talk them out and they don’t watch them out. Their imagination and their muscles need each other.
    Leontine Young (20th century)

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
